The Other Art Fair – London

April will see The Other Art Fair open up in London the art fair is for all mediums of artists the one rule being they must not be signed officially with a gallery.  The Other Art Fair is seen as a chance to buy into the freshest of London's artistic talent and although there is an abundance of talent at the fair (Kamba Gallery first met Damilola Odusote at the fair) there are a few rather more dividing exhibitors. However this year the Other Art Fair has decided to put together a committee of established artists which include Charming Baker and Tracey Emin which will hopefully have a positive effect on the fair.

Pangaea: New Art from Africa and Latin America

The Saatchi Gallery opens its new show Pangaea: New Art from Africa and Latin America. The concept of forming a show from the idea that Africa and South American share some kind of affinity due to being connected land masses millions of years ago is a little hard to swallow. However the show is made up of peaks and troughs of talent however the peaks are really rather splendid with works by Aboudia a Ivory coast artist whose work has often been compared to New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and the shows stand out Colombian artist Rafael Gómezbarros whose giant ants scarper across the walls.

Review of the African contemporary art market in 2013

When Kamba Gallery opened in 2010 it joined a growing number of galleries bringing attention to contemporary African artists. Other galleries include the Jack Bell Gallery which opened in London's St James's in 2010 and the Tiwani and October galleries, also located in London. Previously overlooked, the contemporary African art market is now commanding greater attention, higher prices and far more pages of coverage in the media. READ MORE
